Lunar New Year 2023 ~ The Water Rabbit

The Water Rabbit

In Chinese astrology, the Rabbit is associated with charm, diplomacy, and good luck. The element of Water is associated with adaptability, flexibility, and a strong connection to emotions. Together, the Year of the Water Rabbit is expected to be a time of emotional balance and stability. People may find it easier to make good decisions and to be in harmony with others. However, it is not considered a particularly lucky year for financial gain, and it is advisable to be cautious when making investments. The Water Rabbit year is also believed to be a good year for personal and professional development, as well as for building strong relationships. We wish you all luck, health and peace this next year!

The Lunar New Year on January 21st, 2023 began the Year of the Yin Water Rabbit. The Chinese calendar moves with the cycles of the moon and seasons rather than the modern 12-month standard calendar. We can look to the Lunar calendar as a way to live more in harmony and balance with our earth.

According to the Lunar calendar February 3rd, 2023 marks the beginning of Spring! Even though it feels like we are very much in the depths of winter, you may start to notice the signs of Spring this next week. The days are starting to get just a little longer and some days the sun even peaks out.

During this 15 day period from the Lunar New Year’s Eve to the start of Spring we should priority self-care as winter comes to a close:

  •  Eat a balanced and healthy diet to maintain energy levels

  • Engage in gentle physical activities such as yoga

  • Prioritize rest and sleep to ensure the body is well-rested

  • Set aside time for relaxation, such as reading or meditating

  • Avoid overindulgence in sweet foods or alcohol

  • Maintain your regular acupuncture treatments to help reduce stress and boost your immune system
